Meet the Barefoot Beach Resort team!
ROY VAN UNEN - OPERATIONS MANAGER
Roy was born in Penticton, BC back when they had saloons, not sports bars! Most of his life he’s lived in Maple Ridge, BC. He has two kids and five grandsons. He worked in a steel foundry as a crane operator for 35 years. After Roy retired, 9 years ago, he moved back to Penticton.
Roy has been a with the Barefoot Beach Resort since 2012 and was instrumental in getting Barefoot Beach Resort open.
KERRI-LYNN GRELL - OFFICE MANAGER
Kerri-Lynn was a travel agent for 25 years, but it was a holiday vacation she took to Montego Bay, Jamaica that would eventually lead her into the Hospitality and Tourism industry. Kerri-Lynn has been the office manager since 2012 and her ultimate goal is to have all the Barefoot Beach Resort guests return and to provide them with an even greater experience than their previous visit.
Kerri-Lynn’s motto is… it’s time to relax when you don’t have the time!
ADRIEN VAN UNEN - HEAD OF HOUSEKEEPING
Adrien is from Maple Ridge, BC and has been married to Roy for 30 years. After spending many summers camping in the Okanagan, Adrien and Roy decided to purchase a home in Penticton. Prior to joining the Barefoot Beach Resort Adrien worked for the Ramada Inn as a server. Adrien took over the role Head of Housekeeping for the Barefoot Beach Resort at the start of this year.
MAX PICTON - PRESIDENT
Max’s childhood was spent immersed in Penticton’s tourism industry through a family owned business that included running the South Beach Gardens Campground and the Edgewater Motel. Those childhood experiences would eventually lend themselves to his current entrepreneurial journey.
Max currently serves as Chairman of the Board for Tourism Penticton; he was recently recognized as one of Penticton’s Top 40 Under 40 and also honored with the 2012 Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. While Max is no stranger to a suit and tie, he started a beach resort so he could wear board shorts and flip flops to work!
